Hurricane season runs from June through November.

The islands are located on a boundary between two tectonic plates.
- Security
The Cayman Islands joined countries worldwide in upgrading national security measures after the U.S. 9/11 terrorist attacks.
- Tsunami
The last regional destructive tsunami happened in the northeastern Caribbean in 1946.
- Mass Casualty
As a regulated international aviation destination, Cayman has been holding mass casualty drills for over 20 years.
- Epidemic
There have been no outbreaks of communicable disease for several years except seasonal outbreaks of gastroenteritis and influenza. In 2005 Government joined the world in planning for the threat of bird flu.
- Environmental Hazard
Multi-agency cooperation would be called upon to handle serious oil or hazardous material spills.
- Flooding
Heavy rainfall can bring flooding to low lying areas in the Cayman Islands.
