Following Hurricane Ivan, many residents required basic needs -- water, food and shelter. Relief agencies responded with water, food supplies that didn't require cooking or refrigeration, and tarpaulins to provide temporary cover for damaged roofs.
The Red Cross distributed to residents in shelters blankets, hygiene kits, kitchenware sets, plastic sheeting, large bottles of water, and flashlights and batteries. The British government brought in water, tarpaulins, chain saws, buckets, gloves, and trash bags. It also provided tetanus vaccinations.
Generators are useful and were very helpful in the post-Ivan recovery phase.
