Campers get Hurricane Tips

Campers at the Purple Dragon Karate summer camp recently received useful disaster preparedness pointers from Cayman Islands Red Cross Director Jondo Malafa-Obi.

Focusing on hurricane preparedness, Mrs Obi engaged the campers in role playing, to show the youngsters how they could help to prepare for disasters.

Government Information Services (GIS) and the Red Cross joined efforts earlier this summer to bring disaster preparedness activities to campers. The first visit, to a netball camp at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex, took place on Monday, 10 July, while the last is scheduled for Saturday, 26 August.

Participating camps include the Art of Fun camp at King's Sports Centre; the Cadet Corps Residential Camp; Fearless Factor Camp; and FC International's Cayman Brac Football Camp.
