RCIP Alternate Locations
Published 19th August, 1:29pm
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) would like to advise the public that policing operations in George Town and Bodden Town have moved to alternate locations where they will operate for the duration of the storm.
George Town operations will function from the Family Life Centre on Academy Way with Bodden Town operating from the Bodden Town Primary School, Condor Road (Off Shamrock Road). This decision was taken as these are seen as more secure locations and will assist with business continuity. Both stations have been secured.
Members of the public wishing to contact police in these areas should continue to use the established telephone numbers of: 949-4222 for George Town and 947-2220 for Bodden Town. If anyone cannot contact the station by telephone they should attend one of the alternate stations.
Officers have been placed at strategic locations in all districts and will respond to incidents as normal up until it is deemed unsafe to do so.
The RCIPS is reminding members of the public of the following information:
- Be prepared for stringent enforcement. The RCIPS will not tolerate criminal activity and those found engaging in illegal acts will be dealt with using the full force of the law.
- Know when to call 9-1-1. Emergency personnel cannot come out in the middle of a storm, so take proper precautions in advance of the storm. If you call 9-1-1 during the storm, your call wi ll be noted for action when it is safe, so please follow up, notifying 9-1-1 of your situation when the storm abates.
- Keep 9-1-1 updated. If you have called 9-1-1 for urgent assistance and then move to another location, call them back and let them know; otherwise, emergency personnel will spend valuable hours looking for you when they could be helping the next person in need instead.
- Avoid costal areas: Don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. The RCIPS is asking people to avoid coastal areas during any storm period. Activities such as wind surfing, wave watching and picture taking should cease.
