TS Warning Issued for Sister Islands

Key Message:
At 4pm the National Weather Service and Hazard Management Cayman Islands placed Cayman Brac and Little Cayman under a tropical storm warning. Grand Cayman continues under a tropical storm watch.
The National Hurricane Centre in Miami continues to forecast the centre of the storm to pass along the south coast of Cuba about 95 miles north of the Sister Islands tomorrow afternoon.
Residents should maintain a state of readiness. Tropical Storm Fay may deposit 1.50 to 2.00 inches of rainfall from Sunday morning through Monday morning, causing flooding of low lying areas, particularly in the Sister Islands.
Additionally the Cayman area can strong north to northeast winds of 15 to 20 knots tonight, 20 to 25 knots tomorrow, leading to very rough seas with wave heights of 6 to 8 feet, especially near the Sister Islands. All marine interests should seek safe harbor this evening and remain there.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SISTER ISLANDS WHILE GRAND CAYMAN REMAINS UNDER A TROPICAL STORM WATCH. ALL RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF TROPICAL STORM FAY.
Forecast for the Cayman Islands:
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Fay, which at 4 p.m. was located near 19.3 N 75.2 W or 138 miles northeast of Kingston, Jamaica. Fay is moving west at 16 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami is forecasting TS Fay to move west-northwest passing north of the Cayman Islands tonight and along the Cuban south coast or near 95 miles north of the Sister Islands tomorrow afternoon. Based on this path the band of tropical storm force winds are forecast to pass north of the Cayman area. However, satellite pictures show a significant amount of cloudiness and thundershowers south of the center.
The Cayman area can expect cloudy to overcast with intermittent showers and some thunder. Weather models forecast 1.50 to 2.00 inches of rainfall accumulation from Sunday morning through Monday morning, especially the Sister Islands. This will lead to flooding of low lying areas especially over the Sister Islands tomorrow and residents should exercise caution.
