Key messages
- The Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for the Cayman Islands.
- Hurricane Ike has generally followed the forecast path today.
- According to the 4:00pm update from the National Hurricane Centre in Miami, Hurricane Ike is projected to pass about 150 miles north of the Sister Islands tomorrow afternoon (Monday, 8 September).
- Tropical storm-force winds are currently not projected to affect the Sister Islands.
- The Cayman Islands National Weather Service and Hazard Management Cayman Islands will continue to monitor the system overnight.
- Residents, especially those on the Sister Islands, should continue to monitor local weather announcements.
- The next statement from the National Hazard Management Council will be issued at 7am tomorrow morning, unless there are substantial developments in the interim.
