SEVERE WEATHER ALERT

EXERCISE CAUTION ON WET ROADS

Weather charts indicate that a stationary front over the Cayman area is interacting with a tropical wave to produce an extensive area of cloudiness and showers. The Cayman area can expect overcast rainy weather conditions for the next 24 hours, fresh northeast winds and rough seas through this evening.

The National Weather Service recorded 6.52 inches of rainfall overnight and weather models indicate that another 2 to 4 inches are possible over the next 24 hours. The Cayman area can expect additional flooding.

Flooding may occur in low lying areas and on roadways. Residents should closely monitor local forecasts and exercise extra caution while driving on the roads. Hazard Management Cayman Islands and the Department of Children and Family Services are monitoring flood-prone areas, but so far there have been no reports of flooding affecting homes.
