Special Bulletin Tropical Storm Matthew

The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on newly formed Tropical Storm Matthew.

At 4 p.m. Matthew was located near 14.0 N 76.9 W or about 435 miles east of Puerto Cabezas Nicaragua or 276 miles S of Kingston, Jamaica. Matthew is moving west at 16 mph, with max sustained winds near 40 mph.

Some further strengthening is expected.

The forecast track takes Matthew west into Central America over the next 2 day. The storm is expected to remain south of the Cayman area over the next 72 hrs. Matthew poses no immediate threat to the Cayman Islands.

The CI National Weather Service will continue to monitor the progress of Matthew as it continues to move west. All residents are urged to stay tuned to the local media for further updates.
