Special Bulletin Matthew

The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on newly formed Tropical Storm Matthew.

At 7 a.m. Matthew was located near 14.3 N 80.7 W or about 170 miles east-southeast of Cabo Gracias a Dios on the Nicaragua/ Honduras border or about 347 miles South of Grand Cayman. Matthew is moving west at 16 mph, with max sustained winds near 50 mph.

Some further strengthening is expected.

The forecast track takes Matthew west into Central America over the next 3 day. The storm is expected to remain south of the Cayman area over the next 48 hrs. Matthew poses no immediate threat to the Cayman Islands.

The CI National Weather Service will continue to monitor the progress of Matthew as it continues to move west. All residents are urged to stay tuned to the local media for further updates.
