Special Bulletin TS Matthew
Published 24th September, 4:14pm
24TH SEPTEMBER 2010 AT 4 PM.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Matthew.
At 4 p.m. Matthew was located near 14.7 N 83.7 W or about 40 miles west to southwest of Cabo Gracias a Dios on the Nicaragua / Honduras border or about 352 miles south to southwest of Grand Cayman. Matthew is moving west at 15 mph, with max sustained winds near 45 mph.
The cloud pattern associated with Matthew is still well organized with numerous cyclonically curved rain bands to the north of the system with very deep convection near the centre. Since the centre is already over land gradual weakening should occur as the storm moves over Central America.
THIS STORM POSES NO IMMEDIATE THREAT TO THE CAYMAN ISLANDS.
The CI National Weather Service will continue to monitor the progress of Matthew for the next couple of days, however this will be the last bulletin issued unless it reemerges over the western Caribbean or near the Cayman Islands.
Further updates will be included in the regular forecast issued by the National Weather Service. Weather conditions for the Cayman area can be found on the websites www.weather.ky or www.gov.ky
