Tropical Storm Nicole Flooding Assessment

On Wednesday, September 29, a preliminary flood assessment for Tropical Storm Nicole was undertaken by Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Shelter Operations. HMCI is currently working with the National Roads Authority (NRA) to alleviate the flooding in the identified areas. If your area had been flooded and is not present on this list, please specify the street name and contact HMCI at 945-4624 or the NRA at 946-7780. If you need shelter or other assistance please contact Lynda Mitchell at the DCFS Shelter Operations at 949-0290 or 925-5346. The NRA currently has 6 crews assigned to deal with the flood waters. At the present time there have been no confirmed reports of flood waters entering homes and causing damage.

Windsor Park:

Portions of Windsor Park were flooded but NRA is actively pumping the water out. There is still standing water on Anthony Drive and Templeton St.

Randyke Gardens:

Parts of Concord Avenue and Randyke Way are flooded.

Industrial Park:

Portions of the Industrial Park area are flooded on the following roads:

Maclendon Dr, Industrial Way, Dorcy Dr., Red Gate Rd., Commercial Ave., Seymour Rd., Barnes Dr, Webb Rd.

Please note that Seymour Road, Barnes Drive., and Webb Road have residential housing.

Washington Boulevard:

Large areas in Washing Boulevard area (Swamp) have been flooded but NRA is actively pumping the water out. There is still standing water on: Woodpecker Close, Grackle Road, Washington Road, Cypros Road., Brushy Avenue, Greenwood Drive, and Kennedy Drive.

Central Scranton:

Flooding has occurred towards the back of Tigris Street

Watlers Road:

The northern portion of Watlers road has flooded.

Eastern Ave:

Portions of Saturn Close has sustained flooding. The end of Courts Road has sustained flooding.

Prospect:

Portions of the Prospect are flooded, these include the following roads: Marina Drive, Rosemary Street, Mahogany Way, Party Lane, Almond Avenue, Buttonwood Avenue, Logwood Way, Birch Avenue.

Newlands:

Portions of Moonbeam Drive and Butterfly Circle have sustained flooding.
