Tropical Storm Warning for the Cayman Islands Discontinued

Nicole dissipates over the Straits of Florida… Large area of heavy rains persists over the Northwest Caribbean…
The National Hurricane Center has issued its last advisory on TS Nicole which was located near 24.5 N 80.0 W or about 175 mile east to northeast of Havana. Max winds near 40 mph moving north to northeast 12 mph.
SUBSEQUENTLY TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS FOR THE CAYMAN ISLANDS HAVE BEEN LIFTED AND AN ALL CLEAR IS DECLARED.
The broad area of low pressure will persist over the Northwest Caribbean leading to continued inclement weather over our area for the next 24 to 48 hours.
Boating interests should continue to remain in safe harbor as strong southwest to west winds will persist, reaching tropical storm force at times. Rough seas, with wave heights of 8 to 10 feet are expected to continue over our area for at least another 24 hours. The south and west coasts of our Islands will continue to experience heavy wave action and some beach erosion.
The CI National Weather Service will continue to monitor the progress of this system.
