Hurricane Tomas

The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on newly upgraded Hurricane Tomas, which at 4 a.m. was located near 18.1 N 74.9 W or about 145 miles south of Guantanamo, Cuba. Tomas is currently moving towards the northeast near 9 mph with max sustained winds near 80 mph.
THIS STORM POSES NO IMMEDIATE THREAT TO THE CAYMAN ISLANDS. However, all interests within the Cayman Islands should continue to monitor the progress of this storm. The current forecast track moves Tomas towards the northeast at an increased speed. Tomas is expected to cross the Turks and Caicos Islands early tomorrow morning.
